SOUTH AFRICA INTRODUCES ‘UNIVISA’ FOR THESE 5 COUNTRIES TO BOOST TOURISM
South Africa introduces ‘univisa’ for these 5 countries to boost tourism
In a bid to boost tourism, South Africa has introduced ‘univisa’, a unique common visa to facilitate the movement of tourists. As of now, the visa is only available for five countries namely Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. With this, the country wishes to enhance tourism in the region. The visa allows entry into multiple countries within the region.
Officials representing Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, which constitute the Kavango-Zambezi (KAZA) Transfrontier Conservation Area, have affirmed their intent to broaden the application of univisa.
However, this special visa is operational in Zambia and Zimbabwe. It allows tourists day trips to Botswana via Kazungula. Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, in his address, said, “We must simply say that this will happen.” He expressed gratitude for the consensus reached by his counterparts on the univisa initiative.
