IndiGo launches Gaya–Bangkok route, opening gateway for Bihar’s Buddhist tourism

IndiGo commenced non-stop flights between Gaya and Bangkok on 26 October, establishing a direct international link between Bihar and Thailand. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary virtually flagged off the inaugural service, which operates twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays under flight numbers 6E 1083 and 6E 1084. The route connects Gaya, the gateway to Bodh Gaya’s UNESCO-listed Mahabodhi Temple, with Thailand’s capital, facilitating travel for Buddhist pilgrims and international visitors. Bihar approved viability-gap funding of up to ₹10.40 crore for the route over 12 months, according to media reports. The service adds Gaya to IndiGo’s existing India–Thailand network, which the airline said already operated more than 140 weekly flights before the new route was introduced.
