New Delhi all set to host the ‘Travel for Life Summit 2024’ on 8 March

New Delhi is gearing up to host the ‘Travel for Life’ Summit 2024 on 8th March. The event is being organised jointly by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), and the Hotel Association of India (HAI).

The summit represents a groundbreaking initiative to reshape the tourism and hospitality industry. Taking place at Hotel Le-Meridien in New Delhi, the summit pledges to mark a pivotal moment in positioning India as a leader in tourism and hospitality excellence worldwide. Its primary focus lies in advocating for sustainable tourism practices that align with economic, social, and environmental goals.
Central to the summit’s agenda is the “Travel for LiFE” initiative, launched by the Ministry of Tourism under the Mission Life banner. This initiative aims for a fundamental shift in tourist behavior and business practices by integrating sustainability into the core of the tourism sector. The commitment to fostering a sustainable, responsible, and resilient tourism industry is evident, emphasising large-scale behavioral changes, environmental conservation, and climate action.

Set against the backdrop of India’s G20 Presidency and the transformative New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration (NDLD), the summit aims to harness the collective expertise and innovation of various stakeholders. Participants ranging from government officials, industry leaders, and diplomats to international agencies, practitioners, and media representatives will convene to devise actionable strategies for sustainable tourism development.

The summit’s significance is underscored by the NDLD’s endorsement of the Goa Roadmap for Tourism, outlining pathways for the industry to embrace green tourism, digitalization, skill enhancement, support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and efficient destination management.

The summit’s key themes and objectives include:

Mainstreaming Sustainability: Elevating discussions on sustainability within the tourism sector to ensure long-term viability and resilience.

Sharing Best Practices: Presenting case studies and success stories from global contexts to inspire and guide stakeholders towards sustainable tourism models.

Framework Development: Proposing actionable frameworks aligned with the Goa Roadmap to embed sustainability into tourism businesses.

Technology and Investment: Highlighting the role of technology and green investments in achieving sustainable outcomes for the sector.

More than just a conference, the “Tourism Sustainability Summit 2024” aims to be a catalyst for change, steering the global and national tourism sector towards sustainability.
